A few weeks ago Pastor Weaz and his amazing team of Alicia Richard, Micah Quick and Adam and Lisa Gerber gathered to build a fire pit with the help of some young adult leaders. The idea was to look for simple ways to begin gathering and connecting every other Tuesday through the Summer months. A fire pit seemed to be a wonderful way to just come together and build community.

Well, this past Tuesday our Blackhawk Young Adults had their Summer Launch Party! It was a gorgeous evening in the lower 70’s and sunny. They grilled dozens of hamburgers and hotdogs and made Smore’s as they sat around the fire and ate. We rejoice that over 30 came and joined in on the fun. This included a few that are new to Blackhawk Ministries or even “just kicking the tires” on who Jesus is. Some great connections were made.

The group also had a blast playing corn hole, soccer, frisbee, Kan Jam and basketball while others just relaxed around the fire and connected through good conversations. All in all, it was a great way to launch into Summer and our Young Adults are looking forward to future gatherings this Summer. Those dates are June 15, 29, July 13, 27 and August 3rd with a gathering time of 6:30-8:30. If you know someone who just needs to find a healthy community and is craving fellowship, please encourage them to join us!

Anyone who is out of HS and into their mid to late 20’s is invited! We are built for community and it can be too easy to become isolated in our Young Adult years. We are trying to combat that here at Blackhawk. Another way that we are doing that is by gathering each Sunday morning upstairs in room 254 from 9:30-10:45. This group typically is around 15-20 people and we mingle a bit, eat a donut, drink a coffee and then we dive into God’s Word together. Any young adult is encouraged to come and join us!

Lastly, if you have a heart to lead the next generation of Young Adults or even students, Pastor Weaz would love to chat with you about what that could look like moving forward. We are always looking for more trusted leaders to help expand the ministry.
