Do you find missionaries glamorous? I grew up loving stories about Lottie Moon and Amy Carmichael. They were the soul of adventure and passion for their faith. Then, when I was in middle school, my parents followed the call, and we moved to East Africa.
As an adult, I struggle to capture those experiences when people ask. Sure, there were adventures! But a lot of ministries take place in everyday tasks you could do no matter where you live. In stopping for takeout and inviting the restaurant owner to your church. In baking bread for a neighbor in your building and striking up a friendship. In connecting with a fellow dog owner on your morning walk. All while praying for gospel conversations. It’s about my mindset. It’s the idea that no matter where I live or what I do. God is calling me to get creative. To look for opportunities to share the gospel during my everyday routines.
Kids will be challenged as they discover that God’s truth never changes, everyone needs Jesus, and learn to speak the truth in love. Adventure awaits each day as kids explore tide pools, spot orcas, fly kites, and watch the mighty waves crash up against the immovable Breaker Rock!
