“Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Coach Marc Davidson went home to be with Jesus on Monday, May 9th. While he is greatly missed here on earth, we are forever grateful for the impact Marc made on the Blackhawk community and for the Kingdom. Although the Davidson’s constant pray was for healing, a few months ago, Marc shared with us how his primary prayer had shifted, simple and straight to the point, the main point:

Jesus be exalted.

And that’s what he did. Coach Davidson presented the gospel every time he had the opportunity. And many of those opportunities came on the court, after basketball games. Leverage Photography captured numerous photos of Coach Davidson’s post game huddles. While doing so, he also captured some of his words…

“…when I think about the scripture in Matthew [Matthew 16:26] it says ‘what does it profit a man if he gains everything in the world and yet he forfeits his soul.” Because one day we are all going to stand before our Creator and we’re going to have to give an account of how we lived our life. And on that day fellas, I’m telling you, it’s not going to matter your scoring average or it’s not going to matter the trophies you’ve won or the banners you’ve put in the gym. That stuff will be absolutely meaningless. And all that matters on that day is, did you receive Jesus Christ as your Savior. And I tell you guys that is the greatest decision you ever can make. He offers a free gift of salvation to each and everyone of you. And I would encourage you if you’ve never made that decision, I would encourage you to do so..” [Coach Davidson]

Marc Davidson’s words and his actions will forever impact our Blackhawk community. He impacted our church, our school, our city, and beyond… and at every step, pointed straight to JESUS. I saw it on the basketball court and in the numerous post game huddles with both teams and coaches. I saw it in side-conversations with students. I saw it during basketball camps and countless practices. I saw it with how he loved his wife and his kids. I saw it at church as he welcomed people in our front doors. I saw it as he would raise his hand in worship Sunday mornings. And even when his strength was fading, he would sit… his hand still raised… pointing to Jesus.

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” [2 Timothy 4:7]

Coach, we miss you already, but your legacy of faith will live on in the hearts of the countless people you’ve impacted. You made His name known. All glory to God.

“Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” [Philippians 2:9-11]
