Blackhawk is partnering with Northeast Indiana Safe Families, a collaboration of local churches, Christian families and individuals, and community agencies designed to help families in crisis by giving them a network of support. Volunteer Host Families, recruited through local churches, provide parents with a loving home where they can safely place their children while getting back on their feet. Through its dedicated volunteers, Safe Families helps to prevent child abuse, keep children out of foster care, stabilize families, and share the light and hope of Christ in our communities.
We need your help!
We are looking for volunteers to put together freezer meals for the Northeast Safe Families chapter’s meal ministry, which provides meals to host families during their hosting. Blackhawk has gifted resources to Safe Families to prepare freezer meals for our host families. We’d love to have 5 volunteers support this ministry by joining us on Saturday, March 20th, from 9am – 1pm, here at Blackhawk to prepare the ingredients and put together the freezer meals for the Safe Families meal ministry.
You don’t need to be a chef to make an impact!
Your time on March 20th will make a huge impact for Safe Families and the host families they support. Supplying dinner to a host family after a long day of walking beside a child in crisis is one way Safe Families and Blackhawk can show biblical hospitality in our community.
If you would like to help us on March 20th, please reach out to Angie Study (astudy@safefamilies.net) or Valerie Burson (valerieburson@comcast.net) here at Blackhawk.
Can’t make it on March 20th but still want to help? We encourage you to check out the Northeast Indiana Safe Families website and subscribe to their newsletter. The newsletter includes a list of most-needed items for the children and families. You can contact Angie Study, or Valerie Burson if you would like to donate supplies identified in the weekly newsletter.
